The women of Anatolia brought their culture of knitting to Europe through their migration and maintained this culture in the countries they settled in. Knitting has become a social activity while laughing, singing songs, conversing and feeling sentimental.
The first day I started working with Islington TKC Women’s Group, I noticed some women sitting around a table constantly knitting and chatting. I noticed the same atmosphere for the remaining period I was there. At the end of my first working day with the group, I too rekindled my enthusiasm for knitting in an attempt to understand how they feel.
And through this I witnessed how their knitting silently reflected from within their inner-voices.

All the words captured in the study found their voices through the interviews and all these words were stitched onto the installation.
