Saturday 20th October saw over one hundred fifty thousand people take to the streets against Government austerity cuts in Glasgow, London and Belfast.
Thousands of people young and old, students, teachers, workers, unionist and children; everyone from all walks of life marched for an end to hurtful and ineffective austerity measures. It was a jolly party like atmosphere, where the demonstrators sang, chanted and waved placards and their balloons and flags.
In London the crowd gathered in Hyde Park where amongst the Trade Union chiefs, the Labour leader Ed Miliband gave a speech by saying, “They cut taxes for millionaires and they raise taxes for ordinary families” and accused David Cameron of “clinging” to policies which were not working.
