Anyone who is familiar with Paris would know that the district of Montmartre has been associated with artist for 200 years. Many famous artists had studios or worked around the community of Montmartre such as Salvador Dali, Amedeo Modigliani, Claude Monet, Piet Mondrian, Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh.
Any time I visit Paris, Montmartre is the ultimate must to visit place not just only to feel and breathe the picturesque district which in places still preserves the atmosphere of pre-war Paris but also to visit again and again the Musse de Montmartre.
And of course a must thing to do is, to sit in one of the many beautiful cafes dotted around the square and watch the street side painter at work and to see their creative works on display. Zipping on the café while remembering that Theodore Gericault and Camille Corot came here at the start of the 19th century, and in the 20th century Maurice Utrillo immortalised the streets in his work, is an unforgettable experience of Paris.
